About Renovating Life

A Place Where Homes and Lives Are Transformed

More Than a Renovation

"The houses weren't the only things being renovated."

Renovating Life was originally going to be a renovation blog documenting my journey as I transformed old homes and worked towards achieving my financial goals.

But something never felt quite right.

While each project was successful in its own way, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. The houses were changing, but so was I.

Over time I realised the greatest transformation wasn't happening within the walls of the homes I was renovating - it was happening within me.

That's when Renovating Life became about much more than property. It became a place to explore transformation, purpose, resilience and the lessons that emerge when we choose to build a life that's meaningful.

What Renovating Life Means to Me

To me, Renovating Life isn't about becoming someone different.

It's about uncovering who we've always been. Living your truth.

Every old home has a story. Beneath layers of paint, poor renovations and years of neglect is often something beautiful waiting to be revealed.

People aren't so different.

Life has a way of covering us with expectations, disappointments, fears and responsibilities until we lose sight of what truly matters.

I've learned that the best renovations aren't about changing the character of a home - they're about revealing it.

The same is true for our lives.

Through renovating homes I've learned patience, resilience, humility, creativity and the importance of letting go of outcomes I can't control.

I've learned that setbacks often become the beginning of something better.

I've learned that joy matters more than achievement.

Most importantly, I've learned that success isn't measured only by what we build, but by who we become while building it.

What You Can Expect

Whether you're passionate about renovation, searching for inspiration, or simply navigating your own next chapter, I hope you'll find something here that resonates.

  • You'll discover renovation projects from start to finish, before and after transformations, design ideas, favourite products and practical lessons learned on site.

  • You'll also find honest reflections about the realities behind every project - the wins, the mistakes, the unexpected challenges and the personal growth that often comes with them.

  • Some posts will be about renovating houses.

  • Others will be about renovating the way we think, work and live.

Because the two are more connected than I ever imagined.

Meet Grant

By trade I'm a property renovator, but my passion is helping people create a life of purpose and meaning

For more than two decades I've been helping tired, neglected homes realise their potential. What I enjoy most isn't simply increasing their value - it's seeing people walk through the front door and instantly feel something.

Outside of renovation I'm passionate about understanding what helps people live with greater purpose, alignment and meaning.

I believe every person has their own unique blueprint, and just like every home, our greatest potential is often hidden beneath layers that no longer serve us.

Renovating Life brings together these two passions.

It's a place where beautiful homes, meaningful conversations and authentic stories come together to remind us that every great transformation begins by seeing what's possible.

From the Journal

Every renovation has its challenges, breakthroughs, and unexpected lessons. The journal is where I share the highs, the setbacks, practical renovation insights, and the personal reflections that come with rebuilding a home, and sometimes yourself.
